Husband and I got our first dog together about a week ago!!! We adopted him from the local pound and are so happy we did. He is such a great dog, we named him Seamus (Shay-mus) after one of hubs favorite characters in his favorite book. His name was Buddy but how generic so we changed it. Surprisingly he seems to know his name already cause he answers to it.
Hubs and I had debated about getting him for a few months. Poor dog was at the pound for 4 months. The 1st time we saw him was Dec 30th and fell in love with him but because he has heart worms we were not sure if we were willing to take on that financial burden. We called different vets and got estimates on how expensive it was going to be but it was a tad more than we were willing to spend. We kept talking about how much we wanted Seamus cause we felt a connection with him. I would secretly look on the website to see if he was still at the pound. I was so nervous they were going to destroy him. After talking about it for a few months and debating we decided to adopt him.
Seamus is such a great dog, the first night we didnt expect to get any sleep since he was in a new environment but he slept in his doggy bed all night. Well he woke me up at 5am to go potty but other than that he slept all night. He is a year and 4 months old and is potty trained, doesnt bark, walks on a leash pretty well (we have some work to do) listens to us when we tell him to get out of the kitchen or whatever and crate trained. He seriously is better than I could have imagined. God truly blessed us with such an amazing dog and hubs and I plan on being the best doggy parents we can be. Seamus is our baby and love him like a child already.
